LTO beyond 60 years

This workshop was organized by Nuclear Research and consultancy Group (NRG) in cooperation with Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development/ Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD/NEA) with the following primary objectives:

  • To discuss the latest developments in preparations for long term operation (LTO) beyond 60 of existing NPPs` fleet;
  • To discuss nuclear industry and regulatory authorities activities, plans, challenges and needs in preparation for safe LTO beyond 60;
  • To discuss the status, interim results and upcoming activities of OECD/NEA collaborative project ‘Status Report on LTO Beyond 60 Years’

Effectiveness of AMP's and plant level AMP

NIC2022 participants discussed and shared their challenges and needs for further development. In the LTO area, covering also ageing management activities, exchange of experience and enhancement of activities to monitor the effectiveness of ageing management programmes (AMPs) and plant level AMP was identified as one of the main outcomes of LTO session. Therefore the NRG has organized a webinar  ‘NIC topical workshop on effectiveness of AMPs and plant level AMP’ on 8 November 2022.

Based on a very positive feedback, NRG has decided to organize a fully in-person ‘NIC topical workshop on effectiveness of AMPs and plant level AMP’ at NRG facilities in Petten, the Netherlands on 18-19 January 2023.

Topical workshop on effectiveness of ageing management programmes (AMPs) and plant level AMP

NRG hosted the first Nuclear Innovation Conference (NIC) in Amsterdam on 8-9 June 2022 with objective to discuss the promises, risks and common challenges of existing and future nuclear energy communities and to facilitate further cross-disciplinary collaborations and experience exchange. This two day event for the nuclear industry and regulatory authorities had a general plenary session on day 1, followed by three parallel sessions on Long Term Operation (LTO), New Build and Advanced Reactors on day 2.

It was a successful event with more than 200 participants from 70 organization and 20 countries. Feedback from participants was very positive, therefore NRG has decided to organize NIC regularly with periodicity of two years. Second edition, NIC2024 will be organized on 5-6 June 2024.
